I happened across another little virtual Airline that is developing and growing. Dash Airways is young and growing virtual Airline. Like mentioned before impressions are everything. I think you can judge a virtual Airline by their website. My impressions of Dash Airways is the fact it is not dashing away from their visitors. Very clean and crisp website. Easy to navigate with a few minor incomplete links. But, hey, that will happen with developing virtual Airlines. One thing that I have been noticing lately with some virtual Airlines is the fact they are becoming more user friendly. Navigation of the website is easier and cleaner looking. I do not get the feeling of dashing away from this website.

Dash Airways is new, young, and has a hunger to grow. It has the right amount passion and zeal by the Owner/Operator that it will be going places. If you are looking for a good investment and return then invest in Dash Airways (DASH). I feel your virtual investments dashing away from you.

Official Disclaimer
The opinions expressed here are the views of the Author alone. Recently I was reading a article in Op-Ed section on Flightsim.com. The article was titled "The Pros and Cons Of Being a New Virtual Airline" by David Zaleski dated March 8, 2006. My interest was sparked so I went looking for this website for this virtual Airline, Business Class Express. While searching for this place I stopped at VASX and found it was listed and traded on the exchange. "Cool", I thought, and went to their website.

I work in retail and impressions make or break you. Well, I was totally amazed at the setup and design of this website. A very professional and well thought out layout. Very clean, crisp, and easy to navigate for users. You are no overwhelmed with banners or other clutterly items which can distract the visitor. Everyone knows that line, " as real as it gets", well I think this little virtual Airline takes it to a new level. I get the impression that this virtual Airline is well managed and is a lot of fun to fly for. They do have a small staff and roster but I think that is the advantage. Less is more in regards of managing and upkeep of the virtual Airline. This is mightly little virtual Airline that is strong and growing. Keep a eye on this one in years to come.

If you are looking for a good investment then I would recommend Business Class Express, (BCVE). My hat is off to Dale Zaleski for operating a class act of virtual Airline. Great job and will be keeping a eye on this one.

Official Disclaimer

The opinions expressed here are the views of the Author alone. Why are all these virtual Airlines closing? Well, a short answer, Cycles. What I mean by Cycles is the fact that this hobby changes all the time. Some things that may influence change within this hobby:

"Real Life", Yes real life will get in the way. School, Job, Personal life, etc. will influence the longevity of a virtual Airline. Sometimes things do get in the way of something you enjoy and have a passion for.

"Transitions", Change is good thing. Maybe the owner/operator has new idea and wants to explore that option and the virtual Airline they have created has outlived it's usefulness. I have noticed some the long running virtual Airlines have gone through some major transformations over the years.

"24 hour Wonder", A virtual Airline that basicly fizzled out because of the lack of TLC by the person who started it. Or just a "dream" that has loss it's passion. Those you will find a lot.

Operating a virtual Airline is love hate relationship. You have to have the deep passion of the hobby to really enjoy what you are doing. And there will be times you really hate some of the "headaches" that do come with the hobby. Ask some who have been around in this hobby and they will tell you about it.

So, with all these closing, does it mean the hobby of virtual Airlines dead in the water? No, because there will always be a "need" for them. There is a next generation of Flight Simmer's coming. With the release of new Microsoft® Flight Simulation software, FX10, later this year I do not think it is fading away. I think the interest is actually growing. I was involved with it a few years ago I saw the same thing then as now.

It is just a Cycle and will always happen. Heck, there is always a new one popping up everyday....

The hobby is growing and I think later this year it will expand a little bit more.

What the heck is a virtual Airline?

I hear this often from my friends when I talk using my flight simulation software and flying for a virtual Airline. They start giggling and laughing at first then as I explain the finer points the laughter and giggling stops. Some find it rather interesting and want to know more. So, I suggest they first get the software, learn the basics of simulated flying, and do some homework before jumping into the hobby. So what exactly is a virtual Airline?

Well, I did some Goggling and found that there is a definition for it. I found that the online encylopedia Wikipedia has page for it. If you look up virtual Airline you will find a page dedicated to it. Now, some advice, before you run off and start adding more information there, read their guidelines before posting or adding to it. They are sort of strict on what can be placed on a page. The definition they have is as follows, "A virtual airline is an Internet organization dedicated to the hobby of flight simulation." So, a virtual Airline is basicly a online community of individuals who share the same hobby, flight simulation. A virtual Airline is internet based community that simulates the daily operation of a actual Airline. On VASX you will find a listing of 140 of them. I would suggest that you browse over them and check out some of them. I am at awe with some with amount of detail and work they have done with them. There is some very talented people out there.

If you are interested in getting involved with a virtual Airline I would suggest you do your homework. Research, research, and research it before commmiting. Make sure the virtual Airline is still active and running. Sometimes you find a website that is inactive. Contact the Owner/Operator and ask some questions about it. See if it fits your needs and desires. I will be writing again here about how about getting involved with a virtual Airline.

I hope I was able to give you a basic idea of what a virtual Airline is. If you have any other questions or suggestions for my next article then let me know.

Stock Market Crash!

By now, some of you may be wondering what happened to those high prices on VASX and why your virtual billions became virtual millions. Well, VASX crashed! And that is not a bug, but something that happens once or twice a year on VASX. It is programmed into the system. So, what does that say to investors? "Investors need to stay on top of their stocks and not take a huge increase in a share price for granted." says VASX Webmaster Bruce Chambers.

This also adds some mystery to VASX like the real stock market and keeps it from getting too boring.

VASX is now back to normal, but the question is, how long will it stay that way?

Introducing Carl K - I had to sit back for a few minutes and think..."did this guy even READ the webpage?" "OF COURSE IT LOOKS LIKE AMERICAN'S YOU TWIT!!!" But he felt soooo compelled that he had to post about it on my forum…anonymously. What was he sacred of? Why couldn’t he leave his name? I’m not going to hunt him down, and make him fly for me at gunpoint. He expressed an opinion and then, as Dr. Phil would say, he didn’t want to “own” it. I did, however trace his IP and flagged it, just in case he does come back and introduce himself. I’m just that kind of guy.

But really, what does it matter that we “look” like American Airlines? Is looking like Jennifer Aniston a bad thing? Or looking like Brad Pitt? No, we’re not American (virtual) Airlines, but we’re not blatantly ripping them off either, like so many other “real-world” virtual airlines do. I even stated on my opening statements on my webpage…I KNOW WE’RE SIMILAR! Did that matter? Nope…we’re just too close. Look, if you don’t like my VA, that’s cool. I actually have two; maybe my other one is your style. Or maybe someone else’s is. If you read the AVSIM boards, VA’s advertise to open on the average of four a week. That’s just the one’s that tell us they’re opening on AVSIM, then there’s Surclaro.com, and vaflash.com, and so many other .coms that they can make you .crazy. Put them all together and it’s staggering; 20-25 virtual airlines a week. How many make it past that first week? Less than 20%. But what does that matter, if you don’t like X’s VA, then there’s Y’s VA…or Z’s.

People then to forget, this is a hobby. While a certain degree of realism is fun for everyone, it’s still a hobby. People get pissed off that their stock loses value and they bitch to Bruce. Bruce don’t set the values, the traders do. People get MAD that they lose virtual money. Let me say that again…it’s virtual money. V-i-r-t-u-a-l m-o-n-e-y. It does not exist away from the VASX. You cannot take it to Wal-Mart and buy Bionce’s latest CD, or buy a Big Mac with it. It does not matter, it’s simply bytes on a server somewhere. Someone got mad because the rules changed for upper level traders…it costs what, $2 a month to be a gold trader? Christ, spend another $2 a month and go Platinum, you prolly blow that on a trip to Starbucks for a latte. Just quit complaining, because in the end it’s not going to matter.

Now, if you'll pardon me, I have to entertain myself.

Looking for VASX Writers

Hey, this blog is for those people who would like to add their contributions to VASX.
